But a few people would llke to continue selling alcoholic beverages to the kids, therefore, it is their purpose to "dry" any candidate who will not permit the uncontrolled sale of alcoholic beverages. THE PENITENTIARIES are full of men who first got off on the wrong foot when they were kids. Misguided children grow up and impose their bad influence upon other children. Money hungry men and women sen them alcohols and drugs that cloud their minds, cripple them, imprison them, and kill them before they are mature enough to learn and know the essence of their acts. THERE ARE TWO very dangerous steps for the ever adventurous child: alcohol and drugs. Either one of these can be Just as deadly to the child as a rattlesnake, whether it be in the mangled wreck of a car or in the seemingly peaceful slumber of sleep. Yet some say 'they will get it anyway' as Justifi- cations for selling to minors while others contend =at least they're not using dope' as Justifications for not enforcing the abc laws protecting children. CHILD PSYCHOLOGY is for children and not for responsible adults. If you give a child his first step in the wrong direction he doesn't have to work for it to get it. It is a child's nature to be adventurous; if he survives the first step he is then immediately ready to start working on the second step. THE BEST TIME to help a child is while he or she is still young enough to be readily trained right from wrong, and by electing public officials who will help you enforce laws designed for child protection. If they can't get it, they can't use it. THERE ARE MANY important issues in this elec- tion but our youth are by far the most important and the most neglected by law enforcement. When it becomes public knowledge that the laws protecting the youth will be enforced they wiLl not be so readily violated. Therefore, I respectfully ask you to stand with me, or with any candidate in this election whowi11 enforce those laws designed to protect the youth. IF I AM elected as your sheriff, and take the oath of that office, I will either ride the horse or get out of the saddle. I will not occupy that office ex- cept but in good faith with the people and consistent w~th the oath of that office. ELECT BURL RUSHING as Sheriff of Covington County.
