Governor Bentley signs bill prohibiting texting while driving Governor Robert Bentley on Tuesday signed into law House Bill 2, a measure that prohibits texting while driv- ing. "Signing this bill sends a message that drivers need to focus on driving - not on sending a text," Gover- nor Bentley said. "There is nothing so urgent that it is worth risking your life, or the lives of others, by send- ing a text message while you are driving down the road." According to data provid- ed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administra- tion, texting while driving creates a crash risk that is 23 times greater than when a driver is not distracted. Also, sending or receiving a text message takes a driver's eyes from the road for an av- erage of 4.6 seconds. For a ALA-SCAN fled. Call today - start tomor- row! WIA, VA & Rehab.
