L E T T E R S by William Barjames A Lesson From Lucifer How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! Isaiah 14:12 Although the devil is an angel, he is referred to as a person and has personality. His name was Lucifer in the beginning. He was created by God along with all the other angels and perfect in his ways until sin was found in him. At some time in the past ages he lead a revolt against God persuading one-third of the angelic host to side with him. A revolt that failed causing his expulsion from Heaven. He took a big step and fell flat on his face. The Lord said of him, "I beheld Satan as lighting fall from heaven." Luke 10:18 As a believer in Jesus Christ you need to make one thing certain in your mind, and that is, he will be visiting you and using every tool at his disposal to cause you to fall away from obedience and loyalty to God. He hates God and he hates you for loying God and his Will is bent on destroying every work of God. And my friend, you are a work of God. Satan's desire is to steal your joy, kill your love for God, and destroy your soul in hell. Satan has desire and that desire is to work you over and make your life a living hell. He desires to deceive you and make you think God doesn't care about you and doesn't have your best interest at heart. He desires to stop you from serving God and loving God and praising God with all your heart. Yet sometimes God allows him to test you so that you may understand your sinful condition and your need for God's mercy, grace and cleansing. The Lord said to Peter, "behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not..." Why did Lucifer fall? What made him turn from a loving GOd who provided for his every need and blessed him above other angels? Ezekiel says his heart was lifted up because of his beauty and he corrupted his wisdom for the sake of his splendor. Ezekiel 28:17 Isaiah gives us a further account of his intentions: I WILL ascend into heaven (his overall intention was to take over heaven and to have what God has), I WILL exalt my throne above the stars of God (the angels who remained faithful to God as well as heavenly bodies), I WILL sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides ot' the north (probably refers to the heavenly throne of God), I WILL ascend above the heights of the clouds (proving that Lucifer's kingdom was located on earth), and I WILL be like the most High (it seems that he had in mind to replace God as ruler of all creation). Isaiah 14:13;14 The Lord must have given him great beauty, power and wisdom. But he corrupted those gifts through pride, and, in my opinion, lost his mind. He should have known he couldn't overthrow God and yet he believed he could and to some degree I believe he still thinks he can. But God says different. God says, "thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit." Isaiah 14:15 This will be the lot of all who seek to be like God the wrong way. To those who put their trust in Jesus and are born again by the Spirit of His grace, God seeks to form within them the image of His Son - Christ in you the hope of glory. But to those who follow the example of Lucifer He will say, "depart from me you cursed into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels." Matthew 25:41 Neighbor, if you don't know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, now is time to make that decision. Today is the day of God's grace and mercy. You will make an eternal choice to follow God or Satan. The question is, Whom will you choose? Don't let the devil convince you there is no heaven or hell. He is a liar and the father of lies. If you reject Jesus Christ you can be sure you .will join Lucifer in the lake of fire.
