These belonged to Oscar Mitchell and Danny Har- rtsou. The glass on thedoor alWes- These were the only lofts to clock birds during race time. This race was a hot one - 93 degrees here and this kind of weather is not for pigeon rac- ing. As this was the last old bird race for this year, let's look at the record book and see who won the various awards and what each award really means. Loft of the Year Trophy was won by Mac Cosby of Opp, Ala- bsma. Runner-up was The Da- vis Family Loft. Loft of the Year was won by attaining more points than any other loft. Basically the first 10 positions only count in loft points. As can be seen, it takes a top flier to get this trophy. The winner has more points than any flier in the 'club. Average Speed Trophy was won by the Davis Family Loft. Ranner-up was won by Mac Cosby of Opp, Alabama. This trophy means that the person who wins this trophy has the fastest average speed. Just simply take all the races and the speed of each race, thenadd them and divide by the number bf races flown. This is another hard trophy to win, also. Bird of the Year and runner- up went to Clarence Davidson of New Harmony. These trophies are for the birds (individually) that have scored points in the top ten po- sitions more tbsn any other bird. They are sort of like high point men on a basketball team. It takes a good individual bird to win this trophy. The Melbourne Classis Tro- phy went to Edward Huchabs. The winner must win the 400 mile race - a very hard race. The winner really deserves a trophy. tern Auto was broken out; Zorn Brothers had a window broken at their main office in Florala.
