The Laodicean Letters by William Barjames I See Dead People Walking I see dead people walking, driving vehicles, and riding bikes everyday, and they don't know they're dead. People who have not put their trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, who have never been born again as the Scriptures command, are spiritually dead. They are the walking dead! Jesus said to Nicodemus, who represents all humanity and the religious, that you must be born again. "The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." John 3:2-3 "Born again" simply means begotten from above. In order to be saved or born again there must be a transformation from God and a renewal in righteousness and true holiness. Ephesians 4:22- 24 This is accomplished through Jesus and His death on the cross. The unsaved or unregenerate cannot see the kingdom of God. This doesn't mean the mere act of looking, but the actual perception of kingdom realities. How is that possible? Paul says, "But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." 1 Corinthians 2:14 It isn't possible for the natural man to understand spiritual things such as the realities of the kingdom of God. Who is the natural man? This is a man (person) living under the control of fleshly passions. This is a person who has no sense of spiritual values and doesn't care the least bit for them. Their highest goal in life is to satisfy their carnal pleasures. Spiritual things are foolishness to them. Jesus said, "You shall know them by their fruit." The fruit or works of the natural person is: Immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outburst of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these. Paul said to the Galatians, " I have told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God." Galatians 5:21 The natural man is spiritually dead. When death is applied to people it means separation or being cut-off from God's purpose for which they were created. Basically, anytime the word "death" is used in Scripture you can substitute the word "separation" in its place. There are three kinds of death mentioned in the Bible - Physical, Spiritual, and Eternal. Physical death is the separation of the soul and spirit from the body James 2:26. When people die it is only the body that dies, the soul and spirit continues to live. Spiritual death is the separation of people from God because of sin Colossians 2:13. Etemal death (also called the second death) means eternal separation from God in the lake of fire Revelation 2:11 ;21:8. The Bible tells us all people have sinned against God and the penalty of sin is death. Eternal death is the penalty for committing sin. Eternal death is the result of spiritual separation from God. As one great preacher said, "There are a million roads into hell, but not one road out." My friend, if you go to hell you're not going for the weekend. Hell is forever!
