The Wildcats got off to a shaky start on their first, drive when they lost a fumble at midfield. The Cardinals drove down the field and found the endzone on a run. However, an illegal formation pen- alty negated the touch- down. Florala's defense put the pressure on and forced a fumble which was recovered by Le- roy Mitchell and led to a Wildcat touchdown. The PAT failed. On St. Michael's sec- ond possession, Mitchell intercepted a pass at the Cardinal 40 yard line to set the Wildcats up at midfield. Jacob Ham- mac hit Shaun White on third and long for a first down at the Cardinal 6 yard line. Hammac eventually found pay- dirt on a quarterback keeper. Rashaad Cole- man added the 2 point conversion and the Cats went up 14-0 with 6:07 left in the first quarter. Florala's drive was halted when a rushing Hammac fumbled the ball into the Cardinal endzone resulting in a touchback. Defensively, RECEIVER SHAUN WHITE made a great catch to extend a Wildcat drive in the 4th quarter. LEROY MITCHELL #13 recovered a Cardinal fumble early in the game. the Wildcats stepped up defensively to force a Cardinal punt. The Cats were driving when Hammac was picked off at midfield and the Car- dinals returned the ball to the Wildcat 21 yard line. #11 find the end- zone from 6 yards out for the first Cardinal score with 6:36 to go in the half. With 13 seconds to before half time, the Wildcats were pinned deep in their own terri- tory. A mishandled snap by Hammac went over his head and the ball went into the endzone where a Cardinal fell on it for a touchdown to tie the game at 14. QUARTERBACK JACOB HAMMA C drops back to pass as Logan West heads upfield. Receiver Shaun White made a toe-touch sideline catch at the 20 yard line for a 20 yard gain on a Wildcat drive late in the third. A few plays and penalties later Logan West added another Wildcat touch- down to the scoreboard, 21-14. With 2:44 left in the third, Hammac found wide receiver Caleb Wood for a touchdown reception from 8 yards out. Applying pressure in the backfield the Wildcats forced a turn- over on downs at the end of the quarter. Following good runs from White and Mitch- ell, the Wildcats added 6 more when Ham- mac found a wide open White on a short pass. The PAT was blocked but Florala was well in Command 34-14. The Cardinals added one final touchdown on a drive aided by a Wildcat offsides penalty when their quarterback hit a wide open receiver down the right side of the field. OFFENSIVE LINEMAN #65 Dylan Hobby squares up against a Cardinal defender. The Wildcats added a final touchdown with less than 4 minutes to go. The Cardinals also tacked on a touchdown with seconds left in the game to make the final score 41-27. #32 ZACCHAEUS REESE lays out for a Cardi- nal ball carrier. #2 LOGAN WEST brings down a Cardinal re- ceiver. The homecoming ceremony will be held Tuesday, October 10 at 8:30 a.m. to reveal the 2017 Homecoming Queen and court. A parade will be held Friday, October 13 in downtown Florala beginning at 1 p.m. All businesses are encour- aged to decorate their windows in support of the Wildcats. A pep rally will be held after the parade downtown beside Simply Chic. The annual bonfire will be held Thursday, October 12, 7 p.m. at Lake Jackson. A tailgat- ing event will be held prior to the bonfire. Friday, October 13 game begins at 7 p.m. against Houston Coun- ty. Homecoming festivi- ties begin at 6:20 p.m. Senior athletes will be recognized at halftime. All are invited to attend tt ese events. The FHS Booster and Alumni Club will sponsor a dance imme- diately following the' game. The dance will be held in the courtyard and is open to all Flora- la High S hool tuden (7th-12th graces) and their dates. No one over the age of 20 and no one under 7th grade is al- lowed. Attire must com- ply with School dress code. Pizza and drinks will available For ur- chase. Price of admis- sion is $3 single and $5 couple.
