SIXTH AVENUE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH Members of Sixth Av- enue Missionary Baptist Church invite all to at- tend services as follows: see CHURCH page 7 L E T T E : R TO A TROUBLED S Dear Christian, L-8 Not long ago my wife and I were invited by a neighbor on Sunday morning to a certain church where her granddaughter was getting baptized. Because we knew the child and wanted to show our support, we went to the service. I have to confess the truth, for the first time in my life I was embarrassed to be in church. Allow me to explain. When we parked the Car and started for the front doors we could hear rock and roll music coming from somewhere. I thought to myself, surely that's not coming from the church. But I was wrong. We walked into that church with "Give me that old time rock and roll, the kind of music that soothes the soul," blasting from the church's outdoor and indoor speakers. During the service we were treated to a modern gospel music light show and a very young pastor giving as the crux of his message that Christians i need to apologize to the world for the sins they ,;u, u.committed. 1I agree there should be confes-i sion, apology and repentance, but not to the world. :God's name has been blasphemed and shamefully treated in the name of religion and by religious people. He is owed confession and apology. As soon as the service was over, just as if a light switch was flipped, rock and roll music continued to play with the song "Foot Loose Kick off your Sunday shoes." Dear Christian, what I witnessed that day was sickening to me. The church is no longer holy. It's no longer separated from the world. You can't tell anymore where the world ends and the church begins. It's mixture, and God hates it! Why are they taking the word of God lightly that says, "without holiness (sanctification, separation) no man shall see the Lord." And, "Come out from among them, and be separate, and touch no unclean thing; and I will receive you, and be a Father to you." God is holy and he is coming back for a holy (separated) people. They don't realize that they are the generation that Jesus said he will vomit from his mouth. "Depart from me," he says, "I never knew you." Do you think that I am being hard-hearted or cold-blooded? It's better to have a deep cut from a sharp knife in this life then to hear those awful words from the mouth of the only person in heaven or earth that can save your soul from sin and hell. ter-in-law and mother of Nathaniel and Nicholas, Lisa Dunaway Pickron Brown; nine grandchil- dren, Joshua Ordes (Holly), Michael John Ordes, Melissa Ordes (Jerry), Nathaniel Pickron (Ashley), Nicholas Pickron (Hannah), Makalia Pickron So- lis (Anthony) Callie Johnson Graham (Joey), Phil- lip Johnson III, Luke McIntyre Johnson; twenty- four great-grandchildren, Sterling Ordes, Joshua Ordes, Avie Ordes, Mikalyn Ordes, Michaei John Ordes, Madison Ordes, Krista Ordes, Jayla Davis, Larissa Davis, Ariana Singletary, Chloe Pickron, Kayleigh Pickron, Asher Pickron, Zane Pickron, Grace Pickron, Mia Pickron, Reuben Solis, Lucas Solis, Anthony Solis, Jax Solis, Kaden Michael Graham, James Ivory Graham, Callie Mac Gra- ham, Parley Pike Johnson.
