The Clemmie Laird Family Glenene and Jan Edmondson Family Jeanette Christian Family RANDEL NED TURNER Randel Ned Turner, age 84, of Laurel Hill, FL, assed away Thursday, De- cember 15, 2011. He .was a native of Florala and was born on July 1, 1927. He graduated from Covington County High School, and after graduation, served in the Navy for 2 years during World War II. After attend- ing Troy State College, he married Bobbie Faye Fore- man of Paxton, FL. In 1949, they moved to Pensacola, FL where they resided for over 40 years. He retired from Monsanto in 1985 af- ter 33 years and in 1990, he and Faye moved to Laurel Hill. He loved nature and instilled a love of the great outdoors to his family. He was a pioneer in the early days of'scuba diving and throughout his blessed life, he enjoyed fishing, boat- ing, deer and turkey hunt- ing, carpentry, reading and maintaining the 120 acres in Laurel Hill. He especially enjoyed Faye's good cook- ing. He was a devoted hus- band, father, father-in-law, brother, uncle and grand- father, and got the great- est pleasure from spending time with his family, espe- cially his grandchildren. Survivors include wife of 63 years, Faye Turner; daughters, Ann Montgom- ery and son-in-law, Bob Montgomery, and Linda Gaye Patton; grandchildren, Sarah Patton and Bran- don Patton; brother, Jerry Turner and sister-in-law, Magdalyn Turner; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by par- ents, Coy and Ethela Turner of Florala; son-in-law, Paul Patton, of.Las Vegas, NV. A time of visitation with the family was held Mon- day, December 19 at Evans Funeral Home in Florala with a short service that fol- lowed. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, dona- tions may be made to First Baptist Church in Florala in his memory. CLEMMIE JEANETTE LAIRD Clemmie Jeanette Laird, age 84, a resident of Paxton, FL, passed away Wednes- day, December 7, 2011. She was born in Covington County, AL, the daughter of the late George R. and Lizzie Baggette Williams. She loved her family and especially loved cooking for them. Her specialties were her 7-layer chocolate and red velvet cakes. She was known for her delicious strawberry jam. She was a lifelong member of the Paxton Assembly of God Cht rch, where she taught Sunday School. She also en- joyed her flower garden. She was especially proud of her Day Lillies and Amaryllis'. Survivoi's are daughters, Jeanette Christian of Mo- bile, AL and Glenene Ed- mondson (Jan)of Florala; sisters, Francis Reid of Apo- pka, FL and Mable Cook (Loyd) of Florala; broth- ers, Roy Williams (Peggy) of Temple, GA and Larry Williams (Kay) of Crest- view, FL; 6 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; dear and special friend of 39 years, James Patterson. She was preceded in death by brothers, Henry, Wilson, Mitchell, J.D L.C Mark, LeLand and John Williams; sisters, Alice Rushing, Lessie King and Toy Ed- mondson. Funeral services were held Friday, December 9 at Evans Funeral Home in Flo- rala with Reverend Bill Ed- wards and Reverend Ronnie Sexton officiating. Inter- ment followed in the Green- wood.Cemetery in Florala. JOHNNY RAY BUSBEE Johnny Ray Busbee, age 57, passed away Monday, December 19, 2011. He was born in Fort Walton Beach, FL, the son of the late Hosea Lee Busbee and Eula Mac Paul. He was a resident of DeFuniak Springs, FL. He was a dry wall hanger by trade. He enjoyed fishing and Retro Rock Music from the 60's. He had four very special friends; Scott, Gary, Tim and Joe. Survivors are sisters, Shirley Bethke (Bob) of DeFuniak Springs, FL and Cassy Howard (John). Funeral services will be announced at a later late by Evans Funeral. Home. Inter- ment will be in the Paxton Cemetery. GEORGE OTIS COLE George Otis Cole, a resi- dent of Dothan, AL, died Monday, December 19, 2011 at the home of a son in Flo- rala. He was 71. He was born August 25, 1940 in Blakely, GA to James Otis and Thelma Toole Cole. He joined the United States Navy at age 17 and spent four years serving our coun- try. He returned home and began his truck driving ca- reer with AAA Cooper and WJ Powell. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. HE was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Cole. Survivors include chil- dren, James and Miranda Cole of Florala, Steve and Linda Cole of Dothan, Terri Grimes and Ronald Peters of Cowarts, AL; step-sons, Charles Ray and Kay Co- chran of Cowarts, Kirby Pappas of Lockhart, AL; five grandchildren, Joshua and Jacob Cochran, George Pappas, Christian and Mat- thew Grimes; sisters, Mar- tha Jean Powell and Becky Pouncey, both of Dothan; brother, Michael Cole of Live Oak, FL. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday December 22 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heri- tage with a eulogy given by Steve Cole. Burial with military honors will follow in Blakely City Cemetery with Southern Heritage di- recting. The family will re- ceive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday evening at Southern Heritage.
